Some of The Productive Dad’s favorite posts from the week ending 3/20

Here are a list of some of The Productive Dad’s favorite posts this week:

Facebook Groups can be fun, but at times the emails can get overwhelming. Here is a quick post on how to remove email notifications from Facebook Groups.

Minimalism is a growing trend. One I am in favor of, but not everyone is: Minimalism’s critics

This was on pace to be my favorite post of the week if not for the winner below. Check out Rethink your stuff

And my favorite post I read this week

This very short post from Julien Smith. I have been making notes on writing something like this, was going to hit the same theme, but Julien did it much better than I could have and in a lot less words. Always think this way.

When Productive Dads are not so productive

It happens. Even to those who like to be productive, there comes a time where things just fall apart. For me the last ten days define that.

A little over a week ago a nasty flu bug going around kicked my butt. I was out hard for five solid days. Laid up in bed not doing much of anything. My emails swelled from an inbox of zero to close to 300 and my writing for this blog came to a stand still.

There is nothing you can do, sometimes life deals you a blow that you just need to deal with and get through. I have spent the last five days getting caught up on email, getting caught up on work and getting my body to the point where it is 100% healthy again. While I am still probably one day away from all those things being complete, I am at least now close enough to get going on here again.

When life knocks you down and  throws you off track all you can really do is make a decision to fight through it and regroup.

One thing I ended up doing over the last week was saving a few blog posts from other sites that I thought were interesting and gave me some inspiration for this site. That lead to a new idea. Starting this week I am back to my two posts a week and I am going to add a third which includes some of my favorite posts  read this week. Hopefully you can get something out of them like I did and maybe I will be able to introduce you to some of the cool blogs around the net I enjoy.

So here we go with this week’s favorite Productive Dad posts:

Why punctuality matters and how to be on time: Being late drives me crazy. Not only does it bother me when I am late, it bothers me when others are late. I believe strongly if you are always late it is probably because you are disorganized and not being productive.

Are you a constant procrastinator: There are times where I am very guilty of this. I am not as bad now, but looking at this list when I was a chronic procrastinator I believe it was because of #6, I didn’t know how to manage my time.

Why you aren’t as successful as you want to be: Chris Brogan is one of the most successful bloggers on the interwebs. I have some different strategies, but we both make the same determinations on distractions.

An Interview with Thomas Stanley, Co-Author of “The Millionaire Next Door”: This is one of my favorite books of all time. I highly recommend it. It will open your eyes to what is truly important in your financial health.
