Recharge Your Work Mojo: Post-Easter Productivity Tips! ⚡

I hope everyone had a good Easter break 🐰

In my last post, I gave some tips on how to stay productive over the Easter holidays, even if you have kids. Here's a link to read it online if you missed it: https://notiondad.com/blog/recent-posts/easter-holidays-staying-productive-with-a-toddler-in-tow

Now the break is over, it's time to return to work. So here's how I'm trying to get back into the swing of things in my 9 to 5 after a week off.

PRODUCTIVITY AT WORK

To be productive after a relaxing break, I maintain a daily “dev log” in ClickUp. It's a private space where I can log my progress on tasks, thoughts, questions, and my general mood. The most important part is starting each day by listing my priorities in the log.

You could do a version of my dev log in Notion too. It's a simple database with a due date and mood property. According to the picture above, I'm pretty darn happy 😀

ENERGY LEVELS

My daily routine includes:

  • Creating a priority list of tasks in my dev log
  • Connecting with my team with a morning stand-up meeting
  • Dedicating 2 hours of focused work time in the morning

I've found my energy and concentration levels are highest in the mornings. The afternoon is reserved for addressing any issues or conducting research for new projects.

I apply similar strategies in my freelance consulting work by establishing which tasks are a priority and maintaining regular communication with clients. I allocate 2 hours of focused evening work between 8 pm and 10 pm when I'm still alert enough to avoid mistakes.

CONCLUSION

  • Create a private log to prioritise tasks and record thoughts
  • Connect with your team and clients regularly to keep on the same page
  • Know when your energy levels are highest and lowest and prioritise tasks around them

Doing all the above helps me stay efficient both at my day job and client work without getting burnt out.
